The organisation was founded in 1995, when an educator, addressed to different enterprises asking for marchines and some material for the special centret where he was working. Because of the excellent response, he contacted entities and people linked to the Third World so as to destine all the resources. Thus, a solidarity bridge was set, which was ensure an adequate distribution and use of the materials.

The first operations were carried out thanks to the support from public institutions (especially Generalitat de Catalunya ), and cosisted of the submission of a container to Bolivia and the delivery of resources to different organisations in Barcelona. Later, the activity broadened to countries such as Bosnia, Cuba, El Salvador, Chad, Perú... up to 16 countries of America, Africa and Europe. From the beginning, Banc de Recursos worked to channel specific demands, exerting as an intermediary between donors and colletives in need.

As to the location of the entity, in 1997 premises were rented, placed in Gran de Gràcia street in Barcelona, and the following year delegations were opened in Lleida, Madrid and Zaragoza. As well, in 1999 the Banc de Recursos Bolívia started their activity in Santa Cruz, which, under the direction of P. Francesc Pifarré SJ, is in charge of co-ordinating petitions and receiving the submission to that country. The organisation also has a delegation in Cochabamba.

The Foundation Banc de Recursos was constituted in the year 2001.
